below.
The sessions will take place in the meeting room of the same Jacques Brel YH.
The visit to the European Parliament on Tuesday can be done by foot, check in the
following link the distance from the Jacques Brel YH.

Please remember to bring your own towel. Bedclothes will be provided by the YH.
How to get to the Youth hostel “Jacques Brel”
If you arrive by plane:
Brussels National airport at Zaventem is 20 km outside Brussels.
Take one of the direct trains to Brussels. They have 3 stops (North, Midi, Central). Get
off at Gare du Midi –South Station-.
From the Midi Station (Gare du Midi/Zuidstation) (2 km) take underground line 2
direction Simonis, get off at stop “Madou” and the YH is signalized in the street just
follow the signs.

10.15 – 11.15h Crash course on how EU legislation works – who is who in the EU Lisette Van Vliett, HCWH
11.15-11.30h Coffee/tea break
11.30 – 12.30h Presentation of waste policies in the EU. Overview of current situation JM Simon, GAIA
12.30 – 14h Lunch.
14h IPPC and Waste Framework Directive – Description and state of play. Nathalie Cliquot, EEB
16.15h Coffee/tea break
16.30 – 18h Strategy meeting on EU policy.
20h Dinner + share of best practices in Europe.
Tuesday 26th - Meeting MEPs
The schedule will very much depend on how the meetings with MEPs have been scheduled.
A meeting in parallel will take place for non-EU members in order to work on non-EU European strategy.
9.30h Preparation of lobby strategy – how to approach MEPs and streamline message
Meet in the European Parliament -EP-.
12h Enter the EP and divide by country.
18h Report of meetings and situation, evaluation of the situation regarding WFD.
20.30h Dinner + Social event open to other Brussels NGOs
Wednesday 27th – GAIA Europe Meeting
9 – 11h – GAIA Structure meeting
- Brainstorm - Why GAIA in Europe? What do members expect from GAIA?
- Priorities for GAIA in Europe
11 – 11.30h Coffee/tea break
11.30 – 13h Continuation of GAIA structure meeting
- Goals for 2008-2009 – Resources and strategy to achieve these goals.
13 - 14h Lunch
14h Conclusion of meeting, evaluation, farewell, etc...
15.30h End of meeting. Departure of participants.
